About Me

I started university as an advertising major, but changed majors during my sophomore year because I realized I wanted to be in a profession that helped people. This led me to pursue a career in education. I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in elementary education. I spent some time doing overseas charity work before coming back to Houston to teach at a low-income, predominantly Hispanic elementary school. During that time, I realized I would rather help students with their problems than help them with their reading. This led me to get my masters in counseling from the University of Houston. I pursued a dual-track degree becoming certified in Texas as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a certified school counselor. I worked as a high school counselor for almost 7 years before I left to focus on mental health counseling full-time. I recently completed the process to become licensed in Arizona as well.

In my personal life, I love spending time with my husband and two young sons. We recently added a puppy to our family, which adds fun and chaos. I like to paddle board, listen to true-crime podcasts, have game nights with friends and I am trying to become a runner.
